Schaumburg, IL provides a variety of social service resources for its residents and the surrounding communities. These organizations provide resources for a wide variety of populations and offer an extensive network of volunteer opportunities.
The Schaumburg Teen Center provides a recreational facility for teens between the ages of 12-19, who reside within Schaumburg Township. Activities include day trips, concerts, games and other supervised recreational activities within the center. Most of the activities are offered at reduced cost to participants, as the village of Schaumburg subsidizes many of the events. The Schaumburg Teen Center also provides crisis/short-term counseling services, providing information, support and referrals to teens, families, schools and the community.
Other counseling services offered to Schaumburg, IL residents include the Schaumburg Family Counseling Center. Open since 1974, the Schaumburg Family Counseling Center proves services on a sliding-fee system based on income and number of dependents. Along with individual consultation and referrals, the Schaumburg Family Counseling center also offers a variety of community education programs, such as the Divorce 101 workshop providing information on the legal, financial and emotional aspects of divorce.
The Schaumburg Public Health and Nursing Division offers low cost and free services to Schaumburg Township residents, including wellness and flu clinics, TB skin testing, and various medical equipment available on loan for a small, refundable deposit.
Many services are also offered for Schaumburg Township’s senior citizens. Programs and activities offered include the Schaumburg Barn, food, activities and socialization, a daily lunch or weakly meal program and discounted transportation around the Schaumburg, IL area.
